Serhou Guirassy is being pursued by Arsenal, and Borussia Dortmund is beginning to worry that the Gunners may sign the Stuttgart striker before them this summer.
After permanently joining Stuttgart a year ago, Guirassy, 28, had an incredible season in the Bundesliga, scoring 28 goals in 28 games to help the team finish second and earn a Champions League berth.
However, with clubs from all over Europe aware of Guirassy’s incredible goal-scoring feats from the previous season, rumors are starting to circulate that he may be leaving the MHPArena.
Although they were all rumored to have shown a keen interest, teams like Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea are now thought to be concentrating on other targets during the summer transfer season.
According to reports from Germany this week, Guirassy, a productive international player from Guinea, is eager for a new challenge, and Arsenal, Dortmund, and AC Milan are vying for his signing.
At this point in the transfer situation, Dortmund “fear Arsenal the most,” according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports, although the player has not yet decided what to do with his future.
It is said that Guirassy has received special attention from Dortmund’s management, who just appointed Nuri Sahin as the team’s new head coach, and that Sahin is their top offensive goal for the summer.
The management of Stuttgart has made every effort to stop Guirassy from leaving, but the player’s contract has a release provision that might allow him to go for as little as €18–20 million (£15–17 million).
Guirassy signed a deal with Stuttgart last summer, and it is currently in effect until June 2026.
Alexander Wehrle, the chairman of Stuttgart, downplayed rumors of a potential move and stated in an interview with Sky Germany last month that Guirassy was “really comfortable” with the team.
“I heard in the winter that he is rumored to have already signed, and it was evident last summer that he was leaving,” Wehrle stated.
The truth is that he understands what he has in Sebastian Hoeness and the coaching staff, and he feels incredibly at ease and is an undeniable leader for the first time in his career.
Now that he can play in the Champions League, too. That’s a topic for another debate.
“We will talk after the season, but for many it is obvious that he is leaving, and for me it is not at all clear.”
