Boxing legend Roy Jones Jr. revealed that his son DeAndre had committed suicide.
One of Jones’ three sons that he had with his wife Natlyn was DeAndre, who would have been 33 in July.
He had an elder brother named Roy III and a twin brother named DeShaun. With DeShaun and their cousin Dyllon Burnside, DeAndre established the rap group “3D” while he was a teenager.
Before DeAndre took his own life over the weekend, Jones Jr. claimed to have spent DeAndre’s last evening with him and other family members on Friday.
In a statement, Jones Jr said: ‘Unfortunately my son DeAndre took his life Saturday.
“I’m incredibly grateful to God for granting me the opportunity to return home on Friday night and share his final night with my family.”
Nothing justifies ending one’s own life, even if I am aware that many individuals are suffering through difficult situations at the moment. It belongs to God, who should also take it away.
“Please be considerate of our privacy as my family and I mourn this loss.” I appreciate all of your love and support.
Authorities are yet to confirm any details surrounding DeAndre’s death.
With a 66-10 record, Jones Jr., 55, is considered one of the greatest boxers of all time.
During the course of his 35-year professional career, he held world titles in four different weight classes.
In April 2023, he faced defeat in his final bout against Anthony Pettis, the former lightweight champion of the UFC.
Additionally, American heavyweight Jared Anderson and Chris Eubank Jr. were coached by Jones Jr.
