Jhon Duran, the striker for Aston Villa, has responded to rumors that he might make a high-profile summer transfer to Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has been extensively connected to Chelsea as they attempt to go on their incredible recruitment binge and add even more players for their new manager, Enzo Maresca.
Under previous boss Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues had trouble scoring last season, and Nicolas Jackson had a mixed debut at Stamford Bridge.
Benjamin Sesko, a Slovenian international, was interested in joining Chelsea and Arsenal, their London rivals, but he chose to stay in Leipzig and inked a contract extension with the Bundesliga team.
As a result, even if the Colombian international has mostly performed poorly at Villa Park, Chelsea has renewed its interest in Duran, whom they had pursued in January.
Duran, who joined Aston Villa from MLS team Chicago Fire in January 2023, has only netted eight goals in 37 games as a backup to England striker Ollie Watkins.
Chelsea has continued to pursue Duran despite this; earlier this month, sources said they had agreed a £42 million deal with Villa.

While on international service at Copa America, Duran Gol Caracol was asked about rumors that he would sign with Chelsea this summer. He replied, “The options of the other teams, I don’t know, I am not aware now.”
“I want to add minutes and really support the national team at the Copa America,” the player said. I already have other folks that handle such matters related to a potential transfer.
After a late push under Pochettino, Chelsea finished sixth in the Premier League the previous season. This summer, the club has added two players: Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo and Palmeiras’ Estevao Willian.
After his contract with Fulham expired, highly-regarded defender Adarabioyo signed a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea is a huge club, therefore for me, this is a complete circle experience. After signing with the Blues, he stated, “I made my professional debut at Stamford Bridge, where I was born.”
“I’m thrilled and eager to contribute to steering the club in the direction we want to go.”
As they get ready for the 2024–25 season, Chelsea is also rumored to be interested in Nottingham Forest defender Murillo and forward Alexander Isak of Newcastle United.
