Wimbledon is back, with Andy Murray attempting to compete in the Grand Slam tournament for what is probably his final match and Novak Djokovic aiming for his 25th major singles title. After having knee surgery due to a meniscus injury, it was unclear if Djokovic would play.
However, he indicated he would play on Tuesday and expressed his satisfaction with his progress. On Thursday, the Serbian practiced on Center Court with Jannik Sinner, providing the most recent indication that he will play.
Murray gave a significant update on Thursday, clarifying that no decision had been made yet despite the fact that his participation in the event is still uncertain. He needed surgery to remove a spinal cyst in his back after suffering a serious injury at Queen’s Club. The seasoned player hopes to play Wimbledon for the final time before retiring.
Carlos Alcaraz returns to defend his crown and attempt to land a Channel Slam after his triumph in Paris while Jannik Sinner is among the favourites too and British No.1 Jack Draper is targeting a deep run after his Queen’s Club heroics.
But there’s way more than just the men’s singles – with British eyes on Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter in the women’s singles – which is wide open given dominant world No.1 Iga Swiatek has historically struggled on grass courts.
Elsewhere, the Murray brothers hoping to team up in the men’s doubles and there could be some interesting pairs in the mixed doubles with British No.1 Boulter dating fellow tennis star Alex de Minaur – world No.9 in the ATP rankings.
