According to reports, Tottenham intends to go for England player Eberechi Eze when the Three Lions’ 2024 European Championship campaign concludes.
Many Premier League players are interested in signing the Crystal Palace star, but Spurs are reportedly leading the chase.
After a great season with the Eagles in which he made 31 appearances, scored 11 goals, and provided six assists, it is not surprising to see Eze so much sought after.
Nine of them came in the last 12 games of this campaign under new manager Oliver Glasner, and the 25-year-old’s improved play earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s Euro team.
He made his big tournament debut last week, playing the final 22 minutes of England’s 1-1 tie with Denmark off the bench.
Eze, who previously spent five years in Arsenal’s academy, joined Palace from QPR in 2020 in a deal worth £15million.
Like so many other Palace players, Eze has been linked with a big money move away from Selhurst Park this summer and, according to The Athletic, Tottenham will ‘push to buy’ the player once he returns from the Euros.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are confident they can beat their rivals to the player and have not been put off by his release clause which is believed to be around £60m.
According to earlier reports, Eze is happy to remain in south London and would only think about moving if he believes the buying club could help him achieve his goals.
Because Bayern Munich can provide him with Champions League football, Michael Olise, a Frenchman who plays for Palace, turned on the chance to sign with Chelsea or Manchester United.
Glasner’s squad will be less likely to let Eze go because they are expected to collect £60 million for Olise. Additionally, since his release clause is not easily activated, it is probable that Eze will remain for the upcoming season.
Eze’s only goal at this time is to support England in their Euro 2024 campaign, which gets underway on Sunday night when they play Slovakia in the round of 16.
