Despite Real Madrid’s interest, Trent Alexander-Arnold intends to stay at Liverpool for another season, according to sources.
Since making his first-team debut in 2016, the 25-year-old has won seven titles with Liverpool, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
With just one year remaining on his Liverpool contract, Alexander-Arnold and the team are still unable to come to a new arrangement.
Real Madrid reportedly made an attempt to sign England international Alexander-Arnold last week, according to sources indicating the team has a “serious” interest in the player.
The Sun claims, however, that Alexander-Arnold is committed for the forthcoming season and has already discussed the new Liverpool campaign with Arne Slot.
According to the report, Liverpool intends to entice Alexander-Arnold with a “bumper” new deal in an effort to deter Madrid’s interest.
‘Trent’s spoken to the new manager already,’ a source told the newspaper.
‘This took place before the Euros and they’re in touch now.
‘They had a great conversation initially but the manager respected that he needed to focus on the tournament.
‘Trent, like the rest of the squad, sees this as a new beginning and a fresh start and he is excited to get back to training to lay the foundations for a successful, new season.
‘He is definitely committed for the season and a huge deal will be presented to him to stay beyond that.
‘Everyone at the club has huge admiration for Trent and will be doing whatever it takes to keep him.’
