Seven of the 24 participating nations in Euro 2024 have been sanctioned by the European regulatory body, Uefa, due to racist or discriminatory actions by their supporters.
The Albanian, Austrian, Hungarian, Serbian, Croatian, Romanian, Slovenian, and Romanian football associations have all received censure.
The penalties range from 20,000 euros (£16,790) fine and two-year suspension from selling tickets to its next Uefa away match for Austria to 50,000 euros (£41,970) fine and ban from selling tickets to its next Uefa away match (a Nations League game in Portugal on September 5).
There were 17 games in all that were found to have impacted, three of which involved Slovenia, Romania, Croatia, and Serbia.
The action is being taken a day after Spain’s players Rodri and Alvaro Morata were reprimanded by Uefa for breaking “basic rules of conduct” after their last-ever triumph over England. The FA filed a formal protest on their disrespectful song selections about Gibraltar.
