Unsettling pictures of Manchester United defender Leny Yoro on crutches have surfaced following the player’s injury sustained in just two games with the team.

Yoro, who signed a £52 million contract to join United from Lille earlier this month, played in the preseason match against Rangers before being called up to the team for the US trip.

In a match against Arsenal on Sunday in California, the 18-year-old center half was substituted after just 35 minutes. Later in the game, Rasmus Hojlund also sustained a knock.

“Of course, we have to wait more than a day to learn about their injuries, and even then, it is too short,” After the game, Erik ten Hag commented.

‘We were careful especially with Leny Yoro as he only did 50 per cent of the [training] sessions. He has to come up but let’s be positive and see what comes out.’

United have not released any further updates on Yoro but supporters will be now left fearing the worst after new footage of the defender wearing a protective boot and walking on crutches.

The United squad were arriving at UCLA [University of California, Los Angeles] which is serving as the club’s primary training ground for their tour.

Ten Hag’s side are back in pre-season action in the early hours of Thursday morning when they take on Real Betis in San Diego.

The manager’s defensive options were ravaged by injury last season with Yoro’s early setback serving as a major blow to the Dutchman’s pre-season plans.

United are in the market for another signing at centre-half having held talks with Bayern Munich over a move for Matthis de Ligt.

The Premier League side saw an £30million offer for the Dutchman rejected earlier this month with the German giants thought to be holding out for £42m.

The club are thought to have agreed a fee however for de Ligt’s teammate Noussair Mazraoui who is expected to join United should Aaron Wan-Bissaka complete his move to West Ham.

United have also seen two bids rejected by Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite.
