At the Olympic Games in Paris, Imane Khelif, an Algerian boxer, defeated Angela Carini when the Italian fighter left the ring after just 46 seconds.

The first bell dealt several serious blows to Carini, one of which seemed to knock her head guard free.

Moments after being struck with another brutal right hand, the Italian withdrew to her corner once again, looking extremely irate and upset, and the referee waived off the bout, declaring Carini to have officially given up.

According to The Daily Telegraph, during those initial interactions, she may have broken her nose.

Carini turned to her corner during the fight and was heard saying: ‘It’s not fair, it’s not fair.’

It hurts like hell, she also admitted to her instructor, Emanuele Renzini.

The referee raised Khelif’s arm in the air, causing Carini to collapse to her knees in sobs, whereupon her teammates comforted her.

As Carini departed the ring, it also didn’t seem like she was shaking hands with Khelif.

“I have consistently shown loyalty and honor to my country,” Carini declared.

This time, I was unable to prevail because I had given up fighting. Therefore, I ended the contest.

Khelif was disqualified at the 2023 world championships after being judged to have failed gender eligibility tests. The International Olympic Committee are satisfied she has complied with all rules to fight at the Olympics in Paris.
