To get Arsenal to “the next level,” Mikel Arteta has been pushed to sign Julian Alvarez, a forwarder for Manchester City.
The Argentina international has been linked to the Gunners as Arteta attempts to expand his options for offensive players ahead of the new campaign.
Even though Arsenal has been a threat in the Premier League the last two seasons, a number of analysts have stated that they are in desperate need of a new striker.
Former Arsenal defender William Gallas is adamant that Alvarez would take the squad to “the next level” and calls him a “great signing” for his old side.
Alvarez has hinted that he would depart Manchester City this summer after providing backup to superstar Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium in a number of recent interviews.
Gallas told Genting Casino that “Julian Alvarez would be a great signing for Arsenal.”
He has won the Champions League, the Premier League twice in a row, the Copa America, and the world championship.
‘He has played most of City’s important games and is a starter for Argentina, he would bring so much winning experience to Arsenal and he looks like a player that wants to reach his very highest level by playing as many minutes as possible.
‘Alvarez would take Arsenal to the next level, I don’t know if he could score 20 goals but he can play on the flank or behind the striker and be very influential.’
Alvarez is contracted to Manchester City until 2028 but says he will make a decision over his future after Argentina’s Olympics campaign.
He remarked earlier this week, “There is a lot of talk.” I am concentrated on this Olympics since the competition is brief.
“I feel great at Manchester City; I played a lot of minutes.” However, after the Games, we’ll see. I will first try to take a few days off. Then, we’ll make a choice.
Alvarez joined Manchester City in 2022 after playing for his childhood team, River Plate, and has since scored 36 goals in 103 games.
As Pep Guardiola‘s assistant at Man City, Arteta has twice raided his previous team since joining Arsenal, bringing Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to the Emirates Stadium.
