In an attempt to significantly reduce their team this summer, Juventus has put eight first team players up for transfer, putting Premier League teams on notice.
After finishing third in Serie A the previous season, the Turin team is undergoing significant transformation under new manager Thiago Motta.
Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is one of the major additions, and the Old Lady is also trying to reduce the number of obese players in the team.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the present window is for the sale of the octet, which includes Federico Chiesa, Wojciech Szczesny, Weston McKennie, Mattia De Sciglio, Arthur Melo, Filip Kostic, Hans Nicolussi-Caviglia, and Daniele Rugani.
Motta has made the feelings of the club very clear, saying: ‘They are out of the project and they have to find new club. We are convinced this is the best decision possible.
‘At this moment the club is looking for solutions elsewhere, they must find them as soon as possible for everyone’s sake.’
Some will find it easier than others to find a new club, with long-term interest in Chiesa from the Premier League and offers expected to be made.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle have all been linked with a move for the 26-year-old who has won 51 caps for Italy.
The former Fiorentina forward was a regular in the Juve team last season, making 37 appearances in all competitions and scoring 10 goals.
Italian publication Corriere dello Sport report that Juventus have slashed Chiesa’s asking price to just €15m (£12.8m) as they look to offload him and avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.
Of the other transfer listed players, some have Premier League experience, with former Arsenal goalkeeper Szczesny up for sale, as are McKennie and Melo, who spent loan spells at Leeds United and Liverpool respectively.
Szczesny has been linked with an emotional return to the Gunners to come in as back-up for David Raya if Aaron Ramsdale leaves this summer.
