Scott McTominay responds to Napoli interest

Scott McTominay, a midfielder for Manchester United, is considering about joining Napoli this summer should the Serie A team make a compelling offer.

Although Manchester United are not actively seeking to sell their academy graduate, they would entertain bids, Napoli has contacted them about a transfer for the Scotland international.

In order to finance more summer moves, United will need to earn additional money through player sales. Manuel Ugarte, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, is still a target for the team.

McTominay scored ten goals last season, and although Erik ten Hag says he would prefer to keep him, permanent transfer proposals will be considered. The midfielder is worth between £25 million and £30 million.

McTominay would appear to be tempted by a move to the Serie A giants, with ESPN reporting he is ‘aware of Napoli’s interest’ with their offer ‘under consideration’.

Fulham are also interested in McTominay having seen two offers rejected in recent weeks. Galatasaray have also been credited with interest.

United are looking for a permanent deal rather than a loan move. That stance may present a problem for Napoli with The Times reporting their budget does not stretch to United’s asking price with a loan their preferred arrangement.

United have brought four new players to the club this summer with Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui all arriving for a combined fee of around £150m.

Mason Greenwood, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Alvaro Fernandez have all been moved on with Jadon Sancho among those who could also be sold to raise additional funds.

Harry Maguire is another whose future has remained uncertain, heightened by the arrival of de Ligt this week.

However, the former captain has no plans to leave Old Trafford this summer and is said to be confident of getting plenty of opportunities this season.
