Even though Mohamed Salah is nearing the end of his Anfield deal, he emphasized he is not worried about his future with Liverpool.

Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, Salah has been a key component of the team’s success, but his long-term future at the organization is in doubt.

With less than a year remaining on his three-year contract that he signed in 2022, the Egyptian winger has not yet begun formal negotiations for an extension.

Salah, 32, was the target of intense transfer rumors last summer. Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League made a bid of £150 million, which Liverpool turned down. However, Salah has stated that his current priorities are only this season.

‘I don’t think much [about the future] to be fair,’ he said in an interview with Sky Sports.

‘The more I think with time there is more wisdom, I would say. I just came for a season and I said: “OK, I have one year left, so let’s just enjoy. Don’t think about the contract, don’t think about anything and really just enjoy it.”

‘I don’t want to think about next year, I don’t want to think about the future, I just [say]: “OK, let’s enjoy the last year and we will see.”

‘Every week [being at my best] is the most important thing. Just take one day at a time and just be grateful to be here and that is it.’

Salah has started the season under new manager Arne Slot in superb form, notching up two goals and one assist in his first two games.

And ahead of their weekend clash with Manchester United, the winger says he is enjoying the Dutchman’s new-look style.

‘I enjoyed it before (under Jurgen Klopp) and I enjoy it now,’ he said.

‘We play kind of different football now . The manager wants to control all the time. With Jurgen sometimes it was just go, counter-press and try to attack them in their half.

‘But here we need to control the game, we slow the game down sometimes but it’s part of the plan and that’s a big difference.’
