Celtic is about to finalize agreements for Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels and Sheffield United center-back Auston Trusty. They have also placed an offer for Dundee midfielder Luke McCowan.
Although a deal has not yet been made for the 26-year-old McCowan, Celtic is optimistic that it will be finalized by the deadline of 23:00 BST.
McCowan, who left Ayr United in June 2021 to join Dundee, has scored 28 goals in 123 games, including three of the team’s eight goals this season.
After an agreement was reached on Thursday, Trusty’s manager Chris Wilder stated on Friday that he “believes” the 26-year-old was undergoing a medical with Celtic.
Twice-capped United States international Trusty made 34 appearances last season for a side relegated from the Premier League after joining from Arsenal and started two of their three English Championship games this term.
He joined Arsenal from Colorado Rapids in 2022 but failed to break into the first team, spending time on loan back at the Major League Soccer (MLS) club and then Birmingham City.
Celtic have also agreed a deal to sign 20-year-old Belgian midfielder Engels from Bundesliga club Augsburg.
Reports suggest that could break the club record fee Celtic paid Paris St-Germain for striker Odsonne Edouard in 2018.
Engels has made 53 appearances for the Bundesliga club, having started his career with Club Bruges.
Barcelona left-back Alex Valle also joined the Scottish champions on loan this week.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been clear signings would arrive after the sale of Matt O’Riley to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Celtic boss has previously stated he wanted two midfielders to replace the Denmark international.
Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland winger Mikey Johnston has been sold to West Bromwich Albion, having spent time on loan to the Championship club last season.
