Arsenal is allegedly prepared to make a bid for Aaron Ramsdale’s successor after reaching a personal terms agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Ramsdale’s departure from the Emirates this summer was widely anticipated after David Raya overtook him as Arsenal’s starting goalkeeper.
The England international is wanted by the Gunners, but they have had trouble finding a buyer thus far. In the past, they rejected a loan bid from Ajax.
The Athletic has reported that Wolves has made an offer to sign Ramsdale on a loan with the option to purchase him at the end of the current campaign, making them the latest team to try their luck.
The Premier League side are willing to cover the majority of the 26-year-old’s wages and could yet offer keeper Daniel Bentley in part exchange after he was linked with Arsenal earlier this summer.
It is said that Wolves know that a loan offer is likely to be rejected but the club are limited financially even after the big money sales of Pedro Neto and Max Kilman.
With just over a week left until the transfer window closes, there isn’t much time for Ramsdale, who wants to leave and secure regular minutes, to find a new club.
But should a transfer happen, Arsenal are primed to sign Joan Garcia to replace him.
They’ve been tracking the Espanyol shot-stopper for some time and Fabrizio Romano now reports that the 23-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side and that the La Liga club are aware of their interest.
Garcia, who recently won Olympic gold with Spain, has a £21million release clause and while there has been no bid yet for the Gunners, they will make their move if Ramsdale’s exit is agreed.
Arsenal are also in the process of trying to sign top target Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad whilst also preparing for their next Premier League clash at Aston Villa on Saturday.
