Benjamin Sesko speaks out on ‘happy’ Arsenal and Chelsea transfer saga

Benjamin Sesko claims he was ‘happy’ to have had transfer interest in him from the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea.

The striker, who is now leading Slovenia at Euro 2024, was a hot summer transfer target for a number of teams, including Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea, rivals in London.

Sesko, however, made the unexpected decision to sign a new deal with RB Leipzig, which includes a gentleman’s agreement regarding a possible transfer in the future.

This early step might indicate that the 21-year-old wanted to avoid being distracted by a transfer saga while he was serving his nation in Germany.

Sesko, however, has now acknowledged that, if anything, he enjoys the outside noise, saying to The Sun, “To be honest, with the pressure, I put it on the bright side.”

It’s a constructive type of pressure. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative; if you have the chance to have people talk about you, it indicates that you have done something well in the past and that people are talking about it.

I choose to look on the bright side of things and am glad to be involved.

I think my opportunity to compete in this kind of event is excellent. I’m quite proud of myself for coming here, joining the team, and growing as a person.

It’s crucial for me personally as well as for my work in general. I’ve had a great experience so far and I want to do this again soon.

Sesko has 11 goals in 30 Slovenian caps and 18 goals in 42 games for Leipzig.

He hasn’t scored a goal at Euro 2024, but his team has played well enough to draw with Denmark and Serbia. To advance to the knockout stages, they’ll probably need to win their match against England on Tuesday.

Even if the Three Lions haven’t been playing well, Slovenia should still expect a very difficult assignment, one that Sesko is looking forward to.

Yes, we can [get England cold] for sure. They are aware that we have played two outstanding games, he said.

They’re not operating at their peak. Of course, they are still doing fantastically, but this is our finest chance to play against them and demonstrate our superiority. We will shine, I have no doubt about that.
