According to sources, Crystal Palace is preparing a fresh £30 million offer for Emile Smith Rowe, an Arsenal star.
The offensive midfielder is reportedly still valued by the Gunners at this offer, though.
Smith Rowe, who has slipped in Mikel Arteta’s hierarchy, is anticipated to depart the Emirates this summer.
Even though he was mostly injury-free last season, he only made 19 appearances in all competitions, just four of which were starts. He is eager to get into the first team, even if it means moving away from the Emirates.
The 23-year-old is in hot demand; earlier this week, bids from Fulham and Palace were turned down, and the Cottagers submitted a £25 million offer.
It was thought that that would be enough to secure Smith Rowe’s signing, but talkSPORT now report that Arsenal want £35m for the England international.
This means Palace’s new bid may be rejected, but manager Oliver Glasner is determined to bring the player back to South London were he was born.
He is viewed as an ideal replacement for Michael Olise, who was sold to Bayern Munich in a deal worth upwards of £50.8m.
Daichi Kamada, an attack-oriented midfielder who played with Glasner at Frankfurt, was previously signed by the Eagles as a free agent, but the team is looking to add more firepower in order to improve on their top-half finish from the previous year.
Additionally, according to Fabrizio Romano, Palace will shortly decide whether to sign free agent Ryan Sessegnon, who left Tottenham earlier in the summer.
The left-back, who failed at Spurs despite costing £25 million in 2019, has been training with the Eagles and recently played in a private match against Bournemouth.
