Marc Guiu will remain in Chelsea’s starting lineup for the next campaign, According to Enzo Maresca.
At the beginning of the month, Chelsea acquired the 18-year-old striker from Barcelona for £5 million.
Guiu scored two goals in seven games during his debut season with Barcelona’s first squad.
However, he was more of a regular for Barcelona B, where he scored six goals in 17 appearances, due to fierce competition for a spot in Barca’s assault.
Currently on a preseason tour of the United States with Chelsea, Guiu has played in both Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Celtic and Saturday’s 2-2 tie with Wrexham.
Many had anticipatedChelsea to send Guiu out on loan but Maresca insists a decision over the Spaniard is yet to be made.
‘The idea with Marc, with all the young players, is to have a look now during the pre-season and then to make a decision altogether,’ Maresca said.
‘I think Marc is doing well and he’s one of the guys in this moment is going to stay with us and not going to go somewhere.’
Maresca also refused to confirm that Chelsea are on the brink of signing Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino and Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen but said both players are ‘very good’.
‘No, the only thing I can say is they are still Boca Juniors player and Villarreal players,’ Maresca said.
‘The moment they arrive, we will make some comment but at this moment, they are still not our player, so we will see.
‘I know both of them. And both of them are very good.’
