Leny Yoro made a lot of progress in his first Manchester United training session, according to Erik ten Hag.
Yoro arrived at United on Thursday after signing a £52 million contract to leave Lille.
The 18-year-old, who rejected down Real Madrid’s interest in moving to Old Trafford, will wear the No. 15 shirt and start for United against Rangers on Saturday afternoon in their preseason friendly.
Ten Hag thinks Yoro seemed “comfortable” right away after his first training session with his United colleagues on Friday. Yoro is a French center defender.
When asked if he is excited to see Yoro’s first game for United, Ten Hag told MUTV: ‘I think that’s the right word – very exciting, for him and for us.
‘We are so pleased we signed him. He’s a huge talent, and we’re really looking forward to working with him, to build him.
‘You could see he’s a player straight on the pitch yesterday in the training drills, so comfortable.
‘We’re really excited about him.’
Ten Hag also stressed that United’s academy players will also be given plenty of chances to impress during the club’s pre-season campaign this summer.
‘It’s about minutes but it’s about the squad, it’s about the club,’ Ten Hag said.
‘We want to build a clue and we need a strong academy.
‘We’re giving players a pathway to get through, see Kobbie Mainoo and [Alejandro] Garnacho, so we’re really looking forward [to see] who is the next one.’
