The Euro 2024 final between Spain and the Netherlands, or England, is something Marc Cucurella says fans should “expect everything.”
Winnng every game to reach Sunday’s final, Spain has emerged as the tournament’s most impressive team thus far.
Whichever way the England vs Netherlands matchup plays out on Wednesday night in Dortmund, they will almost certainly start Sunday’s championship match as favorites after defeating Germany in the quarterfinals and France in the semifinals.
Though neither the English nor the Dutch have performed nearly as well as the Spanish this summer, Cucurella is aware of their talent and anticipates a difficult test from whoever his team plays in Berlin.
‘I think they are two big teams who have a lot of players,’ the Chelsea full-back told BeIN Sports.
‘Tomorrow we watch and enjoy the game and prepare when we know the next rivals.
‘I think both are good teams so we need to expect everything.’
Spain’s enthralling 2-1 win over France on Tuesday was lit up by a superb goal from 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal, and the side that was relatively unfancied before the tournament now heads into the final full of confidence.
‘I think for a lot of us it’s a dream,’ said Cucurella. ‘We came, one month ago, with this dream. We fight a lot.
‘We need to suffer a lot, but we play like a team. We are a family and I think we deserve to stay there. On Sunday, we need to enjoy this game.
‘I think we have a special team. We have a mix of the young players and the experienced players. We are a big group, a big family. We are very happy.’
On the remarkable Yamal, the 25-year-old added: ‘I don’t have words to explain this. I think he has a special talent.#
‘He’s very young but he has a lot of quality. If he stays in this way, he can be one of the best players in the world.’
