Chelsea still has to drastically reduce the size of their bloated first-team roster as the summer transfer window draws to a close.
Conor Gallagher and Bashir Humphreys left the Blues recently, but the organization is still looking for homes for a number of players who aren’t in Enzo Maresca’s starting lineup.
It follows a hectic transfer window in which Chelsea signed eleven more permanent players, the most recent being Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid, who will return to Stamford Bridge in 2024 after a six-month loan.
Check out their high-profile summer transactions and the team’s condition as the transfer deadline approaches.
Who have Chelsea signed this summer?
Pedro Neto – Wolves, £54m
Pedro Neto is Chelsea’s most expensive deal of the summer – thus far – having joined from Wolves for £54m.
The Portugal winger has signed a seven-year deal having also attracted interest from Arsenal.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Leicester City, £30m
Having impressed under Maresca in the Championship, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall followed the Italian to Stamford Bridge over the summer.
The central midfielder made his competitive debut off the bench against City.
Filip Jorgensen – Villarreal, £20.7m
With Djordje Petrovic falling out of favour under Maresca, Chelsea moved to bring in a replacement to compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one jersey.
That man was Filip Jorgensen who completed his move from Spanish side Villarreal for a fee just over £20m.
Marc Guiu – Barcelona, £5m
Spanish youngster Marc Guiu was also picked up by club, signing from Barcelona for a relatively small £5m.
The 18-year-old impressed on Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States and came off the bench as a late replacement against City.
And the rest
Aston Villa youngster Omari Kellyman joined the Blues for £19m, while Chelsea also brought in centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo from another Premier League rival – Fulham – on a free transfer.
Further afield, Aarón Anselmino joined from Argentinian side Boca Juniors for £15.6m, while American full-back Caleb Wiley completed his switch from Atlanta for £8.5m.
And finally, versatile Portuguese youngster Renato Veiga completed his move from FC Basel in a deal worth around £11.8m.
How big is Chelsea’s squad?
At present, Chelsea’s first-team squad has 37 players in it, although Maresca was keen to confirm that many players are training separately as they look for moves way from the club.
