Although Gleison Bremer already plays for a “great team” in Juventus, he says he is “flattered” to be linked to teams like Manchester United and does not anticipate moving this summer.
The 27-year-old has been named as one of United’s top center-back targets. Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion minority buyout, the Old Trafford giants are expecting a frenzy of arrivals and departures in the transfer market.
Dan Ashworth’s hiring as sporting director was ultimately made public by the Red Devils this past week, following an agreement between the 53-year-old and Newcastle on his compensation.
But it’s understood Ashworth has been involved in conversations with United bosses for some time regarding the club’s transfer business and even gave the green light to pursue a £43million bid for Bremer.
The highly rated defender joined Juve two years ago for a fee of around £38m and was named in the Serie A Team of the Year for two years running after winning the award for the division’s best defender at Torino in 2022.
Recent reports suggested United were even prepared to use Mason Greenwood as a makeweight in a potential deal for Bremer, but it appears the Brazil international has no interest in a summer switch.
‘I am flattered by the interest of some top clubs but I am already in a great team like Juventus. I am very focused on the Copa America,’ Bremer said when asked about his future while on Brazil duty.
‘I have many goals. I want to play one or two World Cups and I want to continue fighting for important titles in Europe.’
Bremer, who is tied into a deal in Turin until 2028, hopes to fulfil his lofty ambitions at Juventus and is confident of a successful season next term.
‘I feel very good about everything I have done in recent seasons,’ Bremer added.
‘Little by little we are helping Juventus to return to being an elite team and to fight for major goals.
‘I really hope that next season will be a season of great joy for all of us, the players and fans.’
Bremer will be doing everything in his power to ensure a smooth start for Juventus’ newly appointed head coach Thiago Motta, who took over the reins from Massimiliano Allegri last month.
‘He will be welcomed very well by the entire squad,’ Bremer continued.
‘He is a great professional who is doing a brilliant job and I think it was a great choice by the club.
‘As for me, I will do my best to help him adapt as soon as possible.’
