Blackburn Rovers forward Sammie Szmodics has officially joined Ipswich.
Szmodics, 28, was the Championship’s top scorer last season with 27 goals.
The Republic of Ireland international signs a four-year contract with the Tractor Boys after an agreement to pay £9 million with add-on bonuses was reached.
“It’s every boy’s dream to play in the Premier League and I’ve always said to my friends, family and agents that I’ll get to the top one day,” Szmodics stated.
“I want nothing more than to score for Ipswich Town at Portman Road. I am ecstatic to be here and excited for the next season.”
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna said: “We think Sam brings a lot of different qualities to the squad and is an experienced player who has worked extremely hard over the years to improve his game and to become more and more effective as a player.”
A move to Suffolk see Szmodics moving closer to home, having been born in Colchester.
He made 162 appearances, scoring 38 goals, for his hometown club and has also played for Bristol City and Peterborough.
Szmodics could make his debut for Ipswich when they begin their Premier League campaign at home to Liverpool on Saturday (12:30 BST).
The club are also poised to sign England midfielder Kalvin Phillips on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
