Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is keen to join Chelsea this summer, and the Foxes are making their first move to sign the 25-year-old midfielder.
Kiernan was a key member of Leicester’s Championship-winning team the previous season, winning Player of the Season as the Foxes made their Premier League comeback at the first attempt.
Enzo Maresca, the man who led the Foxes back to the top flight, was named Chelsea’s new head coach in early June, taking over for Mauricio Pochettino, who quit the club after just one season.
The Italian coach is eager to get back again with Dewsbury-Hall in west London, and according to The Athletic, Chelsea has already reached out to Leicester to show their interest.
The midfield player is only interested in joining Chelsea this summer, according to the source, provided he continues to adore Leicester, the team of his youth.
Chelsea regard him as a ‘perfect fit’ for the style of football Chelsea will play next season under their new coach.
Dewsbury-Hall has also been linked with a move to Brighton this year. While he is happy at Leicester where he has spent his entire career, his future is uncertain with the club battling to comply with the Premier’s profit and sustainability regulations.
‘I have been here since I was a kid,’ he told BBC Sport.
“I love every aspect of the club.” I was able to play for the first team when I became older.
“I’m content.” I’ve never explicitly said that I wish to quit. That kind of thing is outside my purview. With football, you never know. The season is about to begin, so we’ll see.
He said, “Enzo was an amazing manager,” in reference to Maresca. It didn’t surprise me that he was in demand since I honestly envision him rising to the position of top manager.
‘It is weird having to change a manager after being so successful, but that’s football.’
