Liverpool takes on Brentford in Premier League action this afternoon, hoping to make it two victories in a row.

Last Saturday, the Reds defeated Ipswich Town 2-0 to kick off the Arne Slot era, with Mohamed Salah scoring one and producing the other at Portman Road.

Slot has a pretty fit team to select from, with Jarell Quansah being the only serious injury issue.

The 21-year-old was chosen to the starting XI alongside Virgil van Dijk last week but was pulled at halftime, with Ibrahima Konate replacing him.

Slot explained post-match it was a tactical decision, feeling his side needed the Frenchman’s physicality having lost too many duels in the first period.

Quansah’s reaction following last week’s game has impressed the Liverpool boss but a knock suffered in training midweek leaves him a doubt for the visit of the Bees.

‘I spoke to him immediately after the game, I spoke to him the day after on Sunday and at the end of that conversation he asked if he could train on the Sunday,’ Slot explained on Friday.

‘Normally he should have done recovery, [but] he wanted to train. Unfortunately, I think it was Tuesday that he picked up a bit of an injury, so he couldn’t train on Wednesday – let’s see if he can train today.’

Diogo Jota is set to keep his place leading the attack after his goal against Ipswich, having been the manager’s first choice option throughout pre-season with Darwin Nunez likely having to wait for his opportunity.

Joe Gomez meanwhile was left out of the squad that travelled to Ipswich with the England international exploring his options amid transfer interest from Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Fulham and Chelsea.

Slot has suggested he will be considered for selection today, confident the defender’s head is ‘in the right place.

Predicted Liverpool XI to face Brentford

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Salah, Jota, Diaz
