Marc Cucurella maintains he has no ambitions to leave Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

After a difficult second season at Chelsea, the 25-year-old has emerged as Spain’s surprise star at Euro 2024, with La Roja preparing to face France in the semi-finals on Tuesday evening.

Cucurella has been linked with a return to La Liga, while rumors suggest that Chelsea, who paid £60 million to purchase him from Brighton in August 2022, is willing to trade the defender.

However, the 25-year-old is sure that he has no plans to leave Chelsea when Spain’s Euro 2024 campaign finishes.

Asked about a potential return to La Liga, Cucurella said: ‘When you go abroad it is difficult, people see Spanish football, the club they have supported since they were little, and they lose track of you a little.

‘What we are doing is very nice, there are a lot of people enjoying it and if it goes well we have a couple of games left to finish with a great championship.

‘Playing in La Liga is nice, it’s my home and I would stop speaking English for a while!

‘Seriously, I’m very happy in England. It’s a very good experience for my family. London is a great city to be in for a few years and today I’m not thinking about any change because my family is very happy.’

Cucurella also insisted he was happy to fill in for Dani Carvajal at right-back in the semi-final tie against France as the Real Madrid defender is serving a one-game suspension.

‘I’ve had to try a bit of everything in my career and that has helped me a lot to know how to counteract, because I’ve also played further forward,’ Cucurella said.

‘My position is left back. At Chelsea, due to circumstances, I had to play on the right. But wherever I play, I will try to do my best because the important thing is to win.

‘We are a group of players that give everything for our teammates and that’s one of the secrets. I think we have created a great group.

‘We have a mix of veterans and very young players and that makes it all very enjoyable, the key is to be like a family. We may not have superstars, but as a team we are good, we are doing well and I hope we keep that way.’
