Marseille are in advanced discussions to recruit Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, a Tottenham and Denmark midfielder.
The 28-year-old is thought to be eager to leave north London and is available for around £17 million.
Payment conditions are still being discussed, but both parties believe the transaction will go through.
Hojbjerg joined Tottenham in 2020 for £15 million from Southampton, when Jose Mourinho was in charge.
The midfielder made 39 appearances for the club last season, but just 10 of them were starts, as Ange Postecoglou preferred Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in center midfield.
The Dane is in the final year of his Tottenham deal and will be available for free transfer in 2025 if new terms are not agreed upon.
Spurs improved their midfield this summer by acquiring Archie Gray from Leeds, and Lucas Bergvall from Swedish club Djurgardens.
Marseille has been on a hiring spree since recruiting former Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi.
Mason Greenwood arrived from Manchester United, and midfielder Ismael Kone moved from Watford last month, while they are apparently interested in Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah.
