Dominic Solanke, a striker, is the subject of advanced negotiations between Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur worth £60 million.
In an interview with BBC Sport last month, Bournemouth owner Bill Foley acknowledged the 26-year-old’s release clause, which is estimated to be worth £65 million.
However, the two teams are working on a deal for the striker, who has only made one appearance for England, that is less.
After Harry Kane, the captain of England, left Spurs for Bayern Munich last summer, Ange Postecoglou wants to bolster his attack.
Solanke had the finest season of his career, with 21 goals in 42 games for the Cherries last season.
If the deal goes through it would represent a record sale for Bournemouth, exceeding the £40m they received from Manchester City for defender Nathan Ake in 2020.
Solanke joined Bournemouth for £19m in 2019 from Liverpool, who are understood to have a substantial sell-on clause.
Foley said in July that while he hoped Solanke would stay, Bournemouth had “two or three candidates lined up” as potential replacements.
