Colombian striker Manuela Pavi from Deportivo Cali has joined West Ham.
The 23-year-old will join the Women’s Super League team as its sixth acquisition this summer, provided she receives a work visa. She has signed a three-year deal.
Pavi has three goals in 12 games for the national team and two league championships with Deportivo Cali in Colombia.
“It’s a dream come true for me to join West Ham United – I’m very grateful to be here,” she stated to West Ham TV.
“I’m from a working-class neighborhood in Colombia that is a lot like east London. Everyone there comes from modest origins.
“That is why I know I was born to be a Hammer.”
Pavi, who scored twice in her final match for Deportivo Cali to help them clinch their latest league triumph earlier in August, will wear the number 11 shirt for the Hammers.
“Manuela is an exciting, energetic forward that has the ability to unlock defences from anywhere across the front line,” head coach Rehanne Skinner said.
“Her performances for her previous club and Colombia have been outstanding, most notably her superb impact at this summer’s Olympic Games.”
