Why Carlos Alcaraz ‘still watches’ Andy Murray clips

The reason why Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is “still watching” Andy Murray and the other three Big Four players in videos has been made public.

After dominating tennis for the previous 20 years or more, Murray, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer have finally seen a change in the game.

In contrast to Djokovic, who has mainly struggled this year, Federer retiring in 2022, Nadal and Murray have publicly stated their intentions to put up their rackets soon.

Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are undoubtedly the new tennis poster boys, but the young Spaniard believes he still has a lot to learn from his mentors, even though he has begun to include the occasional video of himself in his compilations.

Prior to his first-round match against Mark Lajal of Estonia on Saturday, Alcaraz declared, “I’m still watching videos of Roger, of Andy, of Rafa.” “Novak too.”

‘I put in videos of myself last year – I’m not going to lie just to see what I did or how I did it (smiling).

‘Just moving, hitting shots, to do the same as I did last year. But I’m not trying to pick anything about other players.’

Alcaraz is hoping to clinch a rare Channel Slam at Wimbledon after his recent triumph at the French Open – where he registered his third major title to date.

The world No.3 is under no illusions just how tough that task will be as he looks to defend his title at the Championships following last year’s epic win over Djokovic.

“Well, it’s hard to win Grand Slams,” Alcaraz continued. It goes without saying that a clay court and a grass court have very distinct playing fields and games.

Say I’m going to give it a go. Of course, I’d like to be on the short list of people who have won both Wimbledon and Roland Garros in the same year.

“I am aware that this will be a really tough and challenging task for me, but I believe I am up to the challenge.”

‘As I said, I’m doing great work these last weeks just to get ready, just to feel comfortable to play Wimbledon here in my 100 per cent [condition].’
